Valentine’s Day is a holiday for love!!  Some would argue that it’s completely commercially driven, much like Christmas.  Regardless, a decorated home is a welcoming home.  We’ve got some fabulous ideas to help you decorate.  Of course when you make the decorations, the house is filled with even more love.

Centerpieces are a simple way to decorate a table, mantle, bookshelf, or even a bathroom counter.  Use any clear vase or bowl, slide some red or white string lights to the dish, and fill with artificial rose petals.  This glamorous centerpiece is so simple, you could make several of them to place all around the house.

This next idea is also very simple, but can make a huge impact in any room.  Find some inexpensive cardboard letters at your local craft/hobby store.  L-O-V-E would be fitting, don’t you think?  Next, wrap the letters in yarn or cover them in glitter using modpodge.  The final step will be to simply wrap string lights around the letters.  You can display these on your mantle or countertops, hang them on the wall, or on top of the dresser.  These would be a great addition to your child’s room (and can be displayed even after Valentine’s Day).

Our last, simple DIY Valentine’s idea is something the entire family can get in on!  String lights seem to be the theme for this blog, so we’re going to stick with those string lights.  Choose your light string (might we suggest white or red), intertwine with ribbon, clamp with zip ties every six inches or so to keep the ribbon ‘wrapped’, next simply use stationery clips (these come in fun colors and designs to customize your piece any way you want) or clothes pins (which can be found in or painted fun colors) to pin love notes between each point of light.  You could hang one strand in the living room and use love notes from the entire family to each other, hang one in each child’s room with notes of encouragement or what makes each of them special to you, one in the dining room with notes of the things you’re each thankful for, the possibilities for this décor are endless.  These could also stay up year-round, maybe add notes to them as special moments happen all year long.

We are confident our customers have several more fabulous ideas for Valentine’s Day decorations!!  We would love to hear from you!  Email us your ideas or pictures at [email protected]!
