Lighting
Tree lighting can sometimes get confusing, especially when you do not have a professional on hand to ask for advice. Below are some tricks-of-the-trade that will hopefully help you out this holiday season.
Typically, large Tapered Evergreen Trees are lit with Incandescent C7 or C9 bulbs on cordset with 12" spacing, or LED String Lights with 8"- 12" spacing. When using LED String Lights, it may be beneficial to double the suggested number of lights for maximum brightness on your finished display. If using stringers with 6" spacing or less, you may need to double the number of lights suggested to get enough length. Toppers are often added to these types of installations and should be proportionately sized to the tree.
When lighting Rounded Deciduous Trees, the easiest products to use are Incandescent Mini lights or LED String Lights with small lenses such as M5, 5mm Conical, G12, or C6. These products are generally available with 4"- 6" spacing in varying lengths with 50-200 lights per set. If using stringers with larger bulbs or 12" spacing, you may want to decrease the quantity of lights by half of the suggested amount. Wrapping of the tree trunks is optional and not included in the suggested number of lights shown here.
Maybe the knowledge contained herein will give you more confidence when decorating your tree this year.
