There is an extreme amount of thought, work and planning that goes into a Holiday Light Show long before the public gets to enjoy it. We thought we would share with you just how the process works. Keep in mind that every park is different, depending on the venue; but this will give you a general idea of the work we put in throughout the year to bring you a fabulous Light Show for you to enjoy somewhere close to your home. When we are certain that we are returning to a venue again the next season, Santa will visit that venue in mid to late January. At that time, he will choose the layout for the following season’s displays. What route the drivers will drive, which displays they’ll see at each turn, and how many displays will be at that North Pole where the elves begin to build any new displays Santa deems worthy for that particular location the following season. In early Spring, the elves begin to refurbish last season’s displays. Each lighted display has to have all the lights and wire removed. It then has to be sanded down and powder coated. After the powder coating, all new wire and lights get put back on each display. This ensures that each year, every display is fresh and ready to dazzle for a whole new season. The real heavy work begins in late summer/early fall. A crew is dispatched to each venue, new and refurbished displays in tow, Santa’s inventory list and layout in hand. It takes approximately two weeks and a crew of nearly a dozen people to lay out the Light Show the way Santa envisioned it. Once every display is laid out and raised, all the wiring has to be done. Each display has to be wired to an outlet strategically so that breakers aren’t blown once the lights come on. The last step in the process before the Light Show can open is to tie up all the loose ends. The elves need to make sure the driving path is clear for everyone to follow. They also need to ensure that the entire course is safe for driving. The final step is for Santa to drive through one last time to ensure everything is up to his standards before the guests come through. We hope you have thoroughly enjoyed this peek into the world of holiday light shows. There is much work and love that goes into each and every light show long before you witness it’s brilliant splendor. We do all of the work so that you and your family can enjoy the beautiful light shows year after year.
