When it comes to Christmas lighting, there is simply no comparison between LEDs and anything else.  LED lights are hands down the most durable and the best bargain of all lighting.  The bulbs on LED lights are extremely hard to break, they use much less power than other lighting types and they have cool burning bulbs.  The only real question you need to ask yourself is if you need standard grade LED lights or some of the commercial grade ones.

Both standard and commercial grade lights share the same basic benefits that all LEDs have, but they are made with different gauge wiring.  Commercial grade lights are built with a tougher gauge than standard grade, resulting in a heightened defense against inclement weather.  Many more strands of commercial grade lights can also be connected together because of this gauge difference.  In fact, when using the appropriate commercial grade power source, you can connect an amazing 125 strands of them together.  Depending on which style you choose, that can total over 3,000 feet of light on just one plug.  If you are planning to use the lights outside or need a lot of lights, it is worth the slightly higher price for commercial grade.  The convenience of being able to put all those strands on one plug coupled with the added insurance of outdoor durability is truly a great bargain.  If, however, you plan to use the lights indoors and you only need a small to moderate amount of strands, then you might as well save a few bucks and go for standard grade.
